RazorSecure take part in Wayra bootcamp

RazorSecure was delighted to attend the Wayra Bootcamp event. Hosted in 6 different locations in Madrid, the RazorSecure team headed to the 4 day event as one of 15 different companies invited to take part in the bootcamp.

Upon arrival guests were treated to a tour around Real Madrid FC's home ground, Santiago Bernabeu, with Carlos Ocana Orbis, an executive committee member of Real Madrid giving the delegates a welcoming speech and preparing them for an exciting and hardworking few days.

The first official day of the event saw the first of two investor panel presentations over the course of the bootcamp, with a 4 person Madrid investor panel starting the activities for the day. Those presenting gave introductions, investment thesis and answered a number of interesting questions, whilst also giving advice to the audience. Throughout the various networking activities, there was a keynote seminar and an opportunity for a one-to-one discussion with Madrid stakeholders. After lunch the group was treated to a presentation by the Telephonica panel from Michael Duncan, Director of Global Consumer & CEO Global Video Unit and David del Val, CEO of Telefónica R&D before a panel session led by Gary Stewart, Director of Wayra UK, and a roundtable session finished off the day.

The next day was based in Barcelona and kicked off with presentations from the start-up and investor panels. After lunch and a transfer to the impressive facilities at Telefonica Universitas, delegates were given a presentation by UK guest Michael Pennington, Founder of Gumtree in which he discussed his journey so far and how he scaled the business from zero to 8 million visitors per month. He also talked about the challenges he has faced and his advice, hints and tips for any growing business. The day finished with a party in Barcelona to celebrate the bootcamp after an intense, but rewarding few days.

The final day consisted of more networking before some team activities and a flight back to UK. Lewis Oaten CTO for RazorSecure commented on the event: "Attending the Wayra Bootcamp event has been invaluable to RazorSecure and a fantastic opportunity for us to gain world-class insight and advice. The time that we have been able to spend with the guest investors and our exposure to senior executives across Telefonica has been extremely useful for our organisation and something which we can use as we continue to grow and expand our business. Our partnership with Wayra as part of their 'accelerator alumni' is something which we are amazingly proud of and we look forward to being involved in more events".
