Nokia Bell Labs is the world renowned industrial research arm of Nokia. Over its 92-year history, Bell Labs has invented many of the foundational technologies that underpin information and communications networks and all digital devices and systems.

The Nokia Open Innovation Challenge, in partnership with NGP Capital, looks for new innovative products and solutions within the Industrial IoT domain.

We learned a few weeks ago that we had been selected for the finals of the challenge. From hundreds of applications, we had made it into the final six companies and we were invited to present at Nokia's Bell Labs in New Jersey.

The Nokia team arranged an intense few days for us, with a 5 minute pitch and a demonstration to their team of our capabilities as well as six hours of meetings with mentors during the preparation day. We were also treated to a tour of the new Nokia Bell Labs Future X Lab, and we were one of the first companies to see their vision for the future of connectivity and mobile networks.

This inspired us to do something different, and we developed an entirely new demonstration for the competition.

Cyber can be tough to demonstrate and given our focus on systems that live in the real world, we felt that it was important to demonstrate a real world use case. So we developed an emulator for a smart traffic light system, based on a real attack demonstrated by the University of Michigan.

We deployed two Raspberry Pis, one with our software and another with Snort (the industry standard network IDS) and decided to demonstrate how RazorSecure Delta can respond quickly to a real world attack, even at the edge of the network.

The entrants went through two assessment rounds, with the six finalists demonstrating our ideas to an international selection jury at an event held today at the iconic headquarters of Nokia Bell Labs in Murray Hill, N.J. The selection jury was led by Weldon and was comprised of leaders from across Nokia, Nokia Bell Labs and NGP Capita

After alot of hard work from the team, RazorSecure was chosen as the second place company in the Innovation Challenge.

This means that we have an opportunity to work with Nokia in the future, and it was really exciting this week to see their vision of the future and the strategic fit between our companies
